Dr. Villarreal is a clinical associate professor at the neurological surgery department at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He has concentrated his research in the area of neuromodulation where he has been involved on several multi-center clinical studies on Spinal Cord Stimulation outcomes and has given several national and international lectures in the field. He is the former Chair of the Special Interest Group in Neuromodulation from the American Society of Regional Anesthesia.
Dr. Villarreal also is an active member of the educational/CME committee for the American Academy of Pain Medicine, among other roles in national pain organizations.
Dr. Villarreal completed his residency program at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, as well as his pain fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University also in Philadelphia. He is board-certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management.
